Juror's Statement

Congratulations to all exhibiting artists in the Euclid Art Association Spring Art Exhibit, 2021!  It takes courage to "put your art" out there, allowing others to view the results of your creative efforts.  All the art in this exhibit is diverse and aesthetically pleasing.

As a juror, I used for major criteria when selecting prizes:  1) Innovation (unique concept or point-of-view)  2) Technical use of the medium/materials  3) Composition/Design  4) The overall impact of the piece. It was great to see fresh points of view exhibited in many of the pieces.  The paintings, drawings, photographs, digital art, three-dimensional art, and mixed media pieces were filled with structure, expressiveness, texture, and mood.  Other pieces in the exhibit showed a high level of technical skill allowing the artist to give clarity and form to the concept.  I awarded prizes to art work that kept me looking, thinking, and reflecting on some aspect of the piece.  The Best of Show was a unique combination of concept, craft, and expression.

It has been a meaningful, validating, and inspiring experience to judge the art work in this exhibit. I am honored.  Thank you very much for the opportunity to be part of this process.  Most of all, keep on creating!
