Rozenia
Cunningham
is an
Educator, Art Specialist, professional artist,
illustrator,
and
children's
author. Her love for the arts and ceramics grew as a child
while she attended Cleveland School of the Arts and Karamu.
The art and ceramic quest continued to where she graduated
from Central State University, a historical black college.
While still discovering her passion for the arts it led her
to Notre Dame and Cuyahoga Community College to complete her
studies in Art. Rozenia always wanted to be a business
owner and founded "Art It Yourself" that specializes in art
classes and summer camp. Teaching and inspiring the
artmaking process to children and adults has been a
profound part of her life.
Rozenia
explores the unlimited views of landscapes, nature and
people whether realistic or abstract. The thrill is being
able to make
various types
of art with diverse mediums and techniques. In her
studio you will find
acrylic and
watercolor paints, an assortment of pencils, oil pastels,
charcoal, and fun scraps. Her mixed media and collages
are a combination of color, texture, and symbolism.
Taking photos has always been another love which she
recently started sharing. She has exhibited in local
cities and has been awarded and placed in acrylic and mixed
media categories.
Artmaking is our personal expression with a touch of
therapy, a connection to all our senses, and people.
You define your own method and level of creativity and what
makes you smile. Who’s the real judge?
"Humanism" is to be human, to think, to analyze, and to
probe. To respond and to be stimulated by all living
things - beasts, fowl, and fishes. To respond through
touch, sight, smell, and sound to all things in nature -
both organic and inorganic - to colors, shapes, and textures
- to not only look at a blade of grass but to really see a
blade of grass. These things, to me, are what life and
living are all about. I would call it "Humanism."”
